Our Intent

The World Platinum Investment Council - WPIC® - was formed in 2014 by the leading platinum producers to develop the market for platinum investment demand.

Our mission is to stimulate investor demand for physical platinum through both actionable insights and targeted development: providing investors with the information to support informed decisions regarding platinum and working with financial institutions and market participants to develop products and channels that investors need.

WPIC is a global market authority on physical platinum investment, providing investors with objective and reliable platinum market intelligence.

Demand for platinum is diverse and global. We believe providing regular data and insights means that platinum is considered by more investors.

Platinum Quarterly is our flagship publication that provides independent supply and demand data, as well as commentary, on the platinum market. In addition, we produce investment research which includes our regularly-updated Two-to-Five-year Supply/Demand Outlook.

The platinum market experienced three years of consecutive deficit between 2023 and 2025, driven by the strength of ongoing demand, not least in a range of applications underpinning the rapid expansion in AI. Platinum already plays a crucial role in reducing energy consumption and harmful emissions in a number of applications and it is also a key metal for the energy transition through its use in hydrogen-related technologies.
